Death of Don Quixote

Don Quixote’s being lead by Death over a rich dark blue sky, Sancho Panza’s nowhere to be found, and his trusty steed’s head has been severed. I began by picturing my youth, the approaching terror of adulthood and with it the encroaching destitution, disillusionment and abandonment of one's imaginative life. While working on this piece I was looking at Albrecht Durer’s engraving circa 1513 titled Knight, Death And The Devil along with Chagall’s acrobatic weightless donkey’s, and Goya’s haunting metaphorical dreamscapes, Los Fantasmas.
